Description

Rhagodia baccata is a strong spreading, shade tolerant shrub which although not growing much over a metre in height, is capable of clambering over other plants, fences and such like. It is common around Perth on coastal dunes and limestone, but also in near coastal bushland. Insignificant flowers are followed by small claret coloured edible berries in the autumnal months. As such, Rhagodia baccata is a key indicator species for the transition from the season of Bunuru to Djeran within the Nongar six-seasons calendar system.
